States and Staying Warm in Rutherford, NJ

Do you know where all of the 50 individual United States are located?  Could you place them each on a Map?
What a great time to be alive and have so much knowledge at our finger tips!!!  I've traveled a little bit, especially on the east coast and felt like I had a pretty good feel of the nifty 50 states and where they are located however, I'm not as good as I thought.  My six year old son has been playing a game on the iPad called Stack the States. There are a number of games that teach you where the states are located.  Each time you play you have three misses and your done.  Well my highest score so far is 33 before I've hit my three strikes (I have only played about 10 times, but still....).  My six year old is getting all 50 correct regularly.

So do you know where New Jersey is located?  How about the MetLife stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey.  If you know where the stadium is, you are probably anxiously awaiting Super Bowl XLVIII between the Seahawks and Broncos.

For those of you heading to the game, remember layering:  base layer, manages moisture;  insulating layer, protects you from the cold;  shell layer, shields you from wind and rain.
Check out this REI website for more info on layering clothing and enjoy the game:

Enjoy the game and if you or anyone you know is looking to move, let me know.  If it involves Utah I would love to help and if it is in any of the other 49 states, I will refer a competent realtor and follow up to make sure excellent service is provided.  And don't worry I'll get all 50 states placed correctly in no time!

Ski Season

Have you ever dreamed of having a home located so that you can ski in and ski out? Right now is a great time to look at getting your dream home located next to or even on the ski slopes. There is still time to purchase a home, at a great interest rate if necessary and make great use of it this year.

Ski Season

If you are patiently waiting to see what happens after the federal reserve chair changes hands and Janet Yellen takes the helm, before you make such a purchase, may I suggest a great weekend get-away for a small price.

One of our families favorite Ski vacations is Brighton ski resort above Salt Lake City in Big Cottonwood Canyon. We stay in one of the Brighton Chalets Buildings (sometime multiple buildings depending on how many of the 50+ relatives can make it). Here is a link to the website for Brighton Chalets (it is a great Summer vacation as well)

Contact me if you need help finding the ideal property to purchase or you are ready to sell your current property, maybe you have outgrown the property or if you use it for rental use, maybe it has depreciated enough that it is time for you to find a new property doing a 1031 exchange and again gain the tax advantages of depreciation (always seek council from an accountant or tax professional).

Otherwise I'm sure you will be awaiting with baited breath for the Fed meeting tomorrow and Thursday, plus there will be New Home Sales data released next Monday, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index on Tuesday and Pending Home Sales on Thursday - a smorgasbord of information.  How fun is that!!! :-)

Building Homes & Building Ice Castles

So RealtyTrac says that foreclosure filings in 2013 were only 1.4 million, down 26% from 2012 and the lowest number since the housing crisis began in 2007.
Housing starts for 2013 were 50% of normal according to the National Association of Home Builders and they predict a return to normalcy by late 2015.
Kiplinger forecasts that Salt Lake County and Utah County home values will appreciate in 2014 by 4.2% and 5.2% respectively.
So is it time to build or should you keep trying to find an existing home, in the right place, right condition and right price.
Give me a call and we can talk about your situation and discuss what is right for you, to get you in a new home in 2014.

Ice Castles

In the meantime it is sounding like the best movie of the year is Frozen.  Have you seen it yet? After seeing this movie you probably will be thinking of Ice Castles and not homes.  If you are close to one of these 3 locations in the United States put on your winter clothes and go check out the Ice Castles.
