Types of Flooring

When investigating a property one of the first things a buyer will notice upon entering a home is the flooring.  Some sellers will provide an allowance for flooring if they feel their property's flooring needs replaced.  I recommend my buyers disregard the allowance, which was determined by the seller, and find the flooring they would like.  The buyers can then, after determining the purchase and installation costs of their desired flooring, deduct the price from the intended purchase amount.  This rationale is communicated to the seller so they understand the offered price.

For new home owners the contractor or developer may have preferred suppliers of flooring that are provided through an associated design center.  For an existing home owner you may visit a big box home improvement location such as Home Depot or Lowe's where they will work with you on products and design.  An independent designer is another option. is a great website to check out for information and ideas. It is a company out of New York and Connecticut and is not available in Utah, but they do have some great information.
